The key advantage of VIASKIN® technology is that it enables direct delivery of intact active compounds through the skin at an optimum state of allergenicity. DBV Technologies has developed a patented process that fixes active powdered compounds by electrostatic forces onto a plastic film and therefore enables delivery without the need for excipients.
The delivery system creates an occlusive chamber on the skin that rapidly generates moisture, releasing the active ingredient from its support and triggering the dilation of skin pores. The active compound is then absorbed through the skin where it interacts with Langerhans immune cells present in the epidermis to elicit an immune response.
VIASKIN® enables sensitive delivery control of the quantities of allergens freed through skin contact and obtains a reproducible and measurable reaction. There is total flexibility in the size of the chamber holding the drug and the permeability of the plastic film backing can also be varied according to the specific needs of the product and application.
All the components used in this system are biocompatible and specially created for the pharmaceutical industry.
