Diallertest® Soya
Soya is found in numerous food preparations and represents a major source of hidden allergens, currently evaluated at 0.3-0.4% of the general population. In the United States the prevalence of soybean allergy in the paediatric population stands at 1.1%. It is expected that an increase in the frequency of adverse reactions to soya bean will be evident given its growing use as a food substitute or ingredient. Symptoms for soya bean allergy are the same as those for other food allergies however severe reactions such as anaphylactic shocks are relatively uncommon, compared to other food allergens. Diallertest® Soya is currently in preclinical development, expected to enter the clinic in 2008.
