Diallertest® Dust Mite
Dust mites represented the leading cause of IgE immunoglobulin dependent sensitisation in the general population. The incidence of sensitisation to dust mites in European countries is nearly 25%, with large variations depending on the places and populations studied. The incidence of sensitisation in allergic patients is even higher, estimated to be 48.2% in the European study.
Patch tests have been widely proposed as the first line diagnostic test for the management of people with such allergies. In contrast to conventional patch-test techniques which involve applying a support (blotting paper) soaked with the allergen in solution onto the skin.
The advantage of Diallertest® Dust mite is that it uses very finely ground dust mites which are rapidly suspended in the VIASKIN® applicator and directly presented to the skin. Hermetic confinement, ensured by the applicator on the skin, enables an effective transfer of allergen through the skin to the immunologically competent cells, in the same proven mechanism as Diallertest® Milk . Clinical studies of Diallertest® Dust mite are currently in Phase II development.
